Greeting

President Isao Matsumoto, MD, PhD
Professor, Department of Rheumatology, Institute of Medicine,
University of Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan
It is my great pleasure and honor to serve as the president of the 5th international symposium of clinical immunology.
Clinical immunology is absolutely one of the most exciting fields of medical science, which covers immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, autoimmune diseases, immunodeficiencies, and various immune diseases associated with infections and malignancies. Most of the above diseases are still difficult-to-manage, and accordingly, patients and relevant medical professionals are seeking the better understanding of pathogenesis of the diseases and the better diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to them. Here we provide a suitable platform where enthusiastic clinical immunologists with the background expertise of rheumatology, dermatology, gastroenterology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, osteoimmunology, reproduction, etc. assemble and discuss the cutting-edge topics and unmet needs in clinical immunology.
The Japanese Society of Clinical Immunology (JSCI) was established in 1973, and it has just become a member of The Japanese Association of Medical Sciences in 2024. In addition to our responsible domestic efforts, our global efforts include the alliance with The Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies (FOCIS) and the convenings of the annual international symposium of clinical immunology. On May 22-23, 2026, the 5th international symposium of clinical immunology is going to be held at Maihama,
Maihama is an urban resort adjacent to the sea and close to a major international theme park. We hope you will be able to learn from excellent lectures and engage in lively discussion in a relaxed atmosphere, freed from your everyday life.
